‘Just the feeling of being healthy has given me a huge amount of self confidence’

I was fed-up with being overweight and not feeling comfortable in my clothes, and being a contract builder, when I started to feel tired at work all the time, I finally thought that ‘enough was enough’. After making the decision to do The Real Body Plan, I was determined that I wasn’t going to sway. I was determined to reach my goal and continue on to make this a real lifestyle change.

With the help and guidance from the team at Real Body, my daily motivational quotes and the support from other people doing the program, staying on track really was so much easier than I had anticipated. I think being determined to succeed is what gets you started, but motivation and support is what keeps you going, especially when the path gets a little rocky.

When I started the program, I could only jog about 500 meters and even then I thought I was going to die, but now 5km is an easy run for me. I don’t feel anywhere near as exhausted after exercise as I used to and my recovery is so quick, the feeling is really fantastic!

The changes I have noticed in my clothes are huge also; clothes that I haven’t been able to fit into for years now do and just the feeling of being healthy has given me a huge amount of self confidence! The biggest change I have made from doing this program would have to be the way that I eat. I have learnt how important eating the right types of food at the right times are.

The Real Body Recipes have made it easy too as they are very easy to stick to, and once you have started trying the meals, you want to keep trying them all! They taste great and they take the guesswork out of what to cook at home. I can easily see myself doing this program for life as these new habits are very easy to adapt to and the free day is a great way to reward myself at the end of each week.

Overall, I would have to say that my lifestyle is much more relaxed now and I don’t feel that everyone is looking at me. I am not puffed after a flight of stairs and my wardrobe choices are expanding everyday. I feel really great now and I even wake up feeling like I have so much more energy. So when people talk about healthy lifestyles, I know that I am one of the ones doing something about it.

I plan to keep training and go further with my goals and run the Bridge to Brisbane fun run in less than 55 minutes. I really can’t say enough about how much I needed this and how much this has been my saving grace. Thanks Real Body team!
